| The 1966 Bangkok Games resulted in the first ever Asiad gold for India, who did not concede a single goal in the entire tournament. India's match results were: |
- beat Malaysia 1-0
- beat Sri Lanka 3-0
- beat South Korea 5-0
- beat Japan 3-0 (semi-finals)
- beat Pakistan 1-0 (final)

| The 1966 Indian Asiad hockey team had 3 Balbir Singh's - Balbir Singh (Punjab), Balbir Singh (Railways)
and Col. Balbir Singh (Services). The player kneeling on the ground in the photograph is Col. Balbir Singh (Services).
Balbir Singh (Services) joined the Army in 1965, and represented Services in the National Hockey Championship from 1965 to 1974.
He captained the Services team that won the Bombay Gold Cup in 1971.Balbir rose to the rank of Colonel in the Indian Army.
He was the third hockey player from Sansarpur, the nursery of Indian Hockey, to receive the Arjuna Puraskar, after Udham Singh and Jagjeet Singh. |

Surfers Tournament 2012
Dear Hockey Lovers,
Huntington Beach Field Hockey Club of Orange County, California would like to cordially invite your
club to their 8th annual 6x6 Surfers Field Hockey tournament to be held on June 16-17, 2012 at Arena
Soccer Park of Orange, 2190 North Canal Street, Orange, CA 92865.
Dates
Saturday June 16 and Sunday June 17
Venue
The field is a regulation sized indoor soccer field with full sized goals, plus a small field
for youth play. The two turf fields are walled so the ball is in play all the time (no side-line or
corner hits). The venue allows a unique fast/indoor hockey experience in an outdoor setting. There
is ample parking available at the front and back of the park.
There are many options for lodging available as the venue is close to Disneyland, Knotts Berry Farm,
Beaches, Nixon Presidential Library & Museum, and many other attractions in the area.
Rules

Division
Competition (Men) and Social (with at least three women on the field each team), plus U-14.
Each team will play approximately 4 games.
Prizes
The club has pledged a total of $1,000 for winner for Competition, Social, and U-14 divisions.
Format
- 6x6 for Competition
- 7x7 for Social Division including a goalkeeper
- 5x5 for kids (U-14) on
a small field (no goal keeper on field)
Registration Fee
Team registration fee is: - $350 for Competition
- $300 for Social
- $125 for kids
division
You can have up to 11 players on the roster for adult division and up to 8 for the kids division.

Other
The host club will provide refreshments and snacks for guest team members (and their guests)
throughout the tournament, and a casual dinner event is planned for Saturday night.
